"It pays to know the enemy--not least because at some time you may have the opportunity to turn him into a friend." --Margaret Thatcher
I have always, always, always wanted to dress my dad up as Mario, since he has always looked like him. This summer, for his birthday, I'm taking him to A-kon. He agreed to let me make him a costume.
My dad is the greatest <3 Here he is with my pet tortoise, Speedbump, for some koopa-ish shots while we tried out the costume for the first time.
My favorite part is that if Mario was around 25-30 years old when he first appeared (1981), he'd be about my dad's age now. So sure, he's an old, grey Mario, but he's technically accurate
There might be some more fun photoshoots in the future...especially since my dad's little brother looks just like someone...
We have found Mario at long last! Your dad is awesome and fits the role perfectly! I love the 'Koopa' as well. I thought they'd be bigger though in real life! XD
Speedbump's still sort of a kiddo tortoise in this picture (although when she gets bigger my dad won't be able to lift her so maybe it's for the best )
Welcome! Ah, I see. When your tortoise gets older she'll definately be a lot bigger! Either way though it's still an awesome cosplay. XD Imagine if you had stuck little fake wings on Speedbump! She'd be a parakoopa! ='D
